Personality

[Judgmental] Whether it was something you did, something you said, or something someone else said about you, Stormflash's opinion of a cat is made very quickly. At the same time, however, enough time spent with the cat in question can do wonders for his stance on them as a character. He may be quick to judge, but his first impressions are never set in stone and can often be altered within the same day.

[Complainer] As someone who prefers getting things his way rather easily and fast, Stormflash isn't afraid to let you know he's unhappy about not getting something his way easily and fast. He complains. And he complains rather shamelessly.
*[Update-- Outspoken] Stormflash's 'complaining trait' has not yet matured to this one. When it does the 'complainer' description will be striked through and this footnote given more detail.

[Paranoid/Jumpy] This cat is naturally easily startled, especially around other cats he knows doesn't like him. If your cat doesn't happen to like Stormflash, let's just say his worst nightmare is your cat sacrificing him to evil spirits... Er... Yeah. His imagination can go quite far.
*[Update-- Nervous/Jumpy] Stormflash's 'paranoid traits' have not yet matured to this one. When it does the 'paranoid' description will be striked through and this footnote given more detail.

[Sensitive] Ouch, that hurt. Why'd you have to say something so mean? If you want to shut Stormflash up, the easiest and quickest way to do so is to hit him where it hurts. That can throw him into pretty somber moods for quite some time, and such verbal knives are hard to get over. Apologies are still accepted, but don't expect him to be very chummy with you for a while.

[Crafty] Nono, not like that, sheesh! ... But he really likes arts and crafts. He wasn't like all those other kittypets who played with their housefolks' yarn balls for no reason. Huff! He actually enjoyed making stuff with the yarn, or at least trying to before his owner would take the yarn away again. That's one nice thing about living in a realm now, at least. Now no one can interrupt him at his work, and he's darn good at crafting stuff in his opinion.

[Kind] Yes, believe it or not... Gryphon Stormflash has a kind side to him. For all his ridiculous traits and behaviors, when it comes down to an upset friend, he doesn't mind lending a shoulder to cry on. He'll often try to say something reassuring about the situation (though this may sometimes just make it worse), but in those rare times that he has some real advice to give, Stormflash's insight can surprise even himself. Perhaps he's not quite so naive after all.

"Hey, my life was awesome."

He started out as a kittypet. A very happy kittypet. He had nice owners who always remembered to feed him and a nice blue cushion to sleep on when he was tired, and a nice warm house to call home. His life couldn't be more perfect and he couldn't be more certain that he'd never, ever trade this life for anything else. So what on earth could have changed all that?

Well... It all began with Sly.

Sly was the local stray of the neighborhood, and somehow she had won the hearts of every neighbor around. She was a stubborn cat who insisted on remaining outdoors and leading her own life, but that didn't stop housefolk from leaving spare food out for her from time to time, and even giving her warm pats and cuddles; when she allowed it, that is. Scooter's owners especially adored Sly, which was great, because Sly happened to be Scooter's best friend.

And Sly had somehow won his heart, too.

"Scoot, you should come with me! It'll be fun!"

So when she started making talk about a journey with a bunch of feral cats, Griffy Scooter had no idea what to think. On the one-hand, he had a great life and two very doting owners who he'd never thought he'd ever leave. Ever. On the other... his best friend was leaving.

The friend he'd been crushing on for who knows how long.

Sly had been captivated by the feral cats from the local forest, and wanted to join them on their journey to a new home in search of something more exciting, more fulfilling, something better than just living as a lone stray in a quiet town. She didn't want to stay here anymore, and she wanted Scooter to come with her to God-knows-where.

She gave him a night to think it over.

Needless to say, Scooter didn't get much sleep that night. It was a hard choice to make, and much time and pain was suffered through before he came to his final decision; as kind and generous as his owners were... they could find a new cat. Right? After all, how could he possibly ever let Sly go on a dangerous adventure like this alone? What if those feral cats ate her for harsh times, or sacrificed her to their ancestors for more rain? (kittypets gossiped over a lot of things, but he was very well educated on the myths surrounding his forest brethren... if you could call them that, and while Sly never believed it and always laughed him off for suggesting such things, dammit, those rumors must have come from some grain of truth!)

So as soon as the crack of dawn shone through his window, Scooter was pelting through the kitchen's door-flap to find Sly and go on this forsaken journey with her. Who knew? Maybe... maybe something great would happen along the way.

"Oh, this isn't so bad... I guess..."

Scooter hated being surrounded by strange cats in a strange place that only kept changing into other strange places as they travelled. And at first, he was rather miserable. He kept his thoughts to himself, not wanting to ruin the look of glowing excitement on Sly's face, but that didn't change the fact that he was both homesick and very, very clingy on the superstitions he believed when it came to feral cats. When someone was nice enough to prod him awake, he ended up leaping back with a hiss the first couple of times and from then on, any touch from a forest cat made the ginger tom flinch. When someone tried to introduce theirself to Scooter, he responded rather coldly, very slow to give his name and sometimes even making something up, like Jay Bond or Oliver (at which point Sly would just laugh and say his name for him.) Obviously, he wasn't very popular with the other cats in the beginning, nor did he care to be... and it might have gone on like this if an easygoing friend like Sly hadn't been there with him to break the ice and loosen tensions. Eventually, it was her charm and charisma that managed to make relationships between Scooter and the others a little more bearable. And, after some pushing from Sly, Scooter was able to make... "acquaintances." At least cats whom he knew he could grudgingly say hello to before resuming back to his own business.

... But in retrospect, the journey wasn't so bad. Sly was having a great time, so... Scooter was having a good time (or at least, he kept telling himself that.) Some of the feral cats around them were still fairly rude (he'd been expecting that), but others were pretty nice, or at least polite when they spoke to him. Strangers went out of their way to share prey with him, and despite the occassional bad weather and the chilly air and the numbness of his nose, Scooter was starting to get along fine. As it turned out, he wasn't the only runaway kittypet on this trip, and he somehow managed to befriend a few of them. It was getting to the point where he was already knowing cats on a first-name-basis, and his body was growing more accustomed to the uncomfortable weather. Without curfews and housefolk in the way, he and Sly got to talk a lot more than they used to and it was great, really. He was this close to maybe-sorta confessing to her, and that was when Sly...

Well, that was when Sly befriended a warrior tom.

Now this, he hadn't seen coming. But lo and behold, some charming forest cat shoved his face into Sly's life and somehow, captured her affections from the very moment their eyes met. Scooter was distraught, and he had no idea how to express this to his friend when she and her new 'buddy' were growing more smitten with each other by the day. Pretty soon, time alone with her was nigh impossible. In the coming months, they grew close enough to be considered "mates" among the forest cats. And by the time the pilgrim clans had finally found the lands that they would eventually make their homes, Sly was pregnant with her new soulmate's kits.

"Kill Me Now" was the one phrase that kept playing through his mind.

Now he remembered why he hated forest cats so much.

"Oh Screw This."

When Sly and her mate made plans to join the realm of Sonus, Scooter knew that there was simply no way he'd be able to handle another second of watching those two lovebirds and there was no way in hell he was going to join Sonus. He'd had enough knives twisted into his chest, thank you very much. Yet... he couldn't go home either, could he. Five moons of travel had been exhausting for everyone, especially him... and even if he had the drive to journey all the way back to his housefolk back home, how could he possibly survive such a journey alone?

He couldn't.

So it was that Scooter decided to join that one other realm, Andlegurr. And hoped it'd be a decent place to stay.

Roleplay Example

(taken from a Unicorns Visions roleplay)

The wave of acid rising against them was as tall as the tree itself. Simi's dark indigo eyes widened in a moment of terror before the unicorn took off into a run, feeling no need to warn everyone of the very, very visible threat approaching them. But being the creature that she was, Simi wasn't one to flee without looking back, and that was her mistake.

The Shifter skidded slowly as she turned back around, wanting to make sure that her companions had also fled the scene just in time. But she was only just barely out of the acid-moat's way, and as the wave finally came crashing down, several droplets hit the side of her flank. She leaped away with a cry of pain, tears blurring her vision of the acid slowly sinking away into the ground and out of sight once more.

Everything was quiet again.

Panting, the unicorn rubbed away her tears with a foreknee before stiffly making her way to Entropy, eyes still fixated onto the tree. From here she could see the wet lines trailing down the tree's trunk, and one could only assume that the succubus' ball of water had worked...

... Especially when Jahran-- not a specter, not a ghost, but the real, true Jahran-- was suddenly released from his slumber and cast down. He hit the ground of the tree with a thud and a gasp, but when a scream escaped the pegacorn's mouth Simi's joy turned to that of alarm. She made a start as if to rush to Jahran's aid, but halted when she remembered the protective acid lying in wait just underneath the surface... and the burns on her side.

"J-Jahran, y-you're here! I know you're hurt, b-but we can't help you until you come over here. The tree isn't letting us come close anymore!" So full of excitement was she that the unicorn hadn't even noticed Gaeven's presence yet, instead turning to Entropy again.

"Entropy, I-I... I know that... whatever is around the tree was... angry... when that happened. But your water freed Jahran. Maybe... maybe every time you give the tree water... it will free someone else. I know it's dangerous, I-I know it's a big thing to ask..." Simi glanced down at her hooves. "But... do you think we should try?"
